PIZZA PLACE REPORTS THREATS AFTER KILLING

An employee of Mr. Ventry's Pizza on Pierce Avenue told police the business received a pair of threatening telephone calls Friday night from a person using a disguised voice.

In the first incident, the caller threatened to "blow up" the business, later calling back and threatening to kill the employee who had answered the phone.

A deliveryman for Mr. Ventry's shot and killed a 16-year-old city resident Wednesday night during an attempted holdup in an alley off Pierce Avenue. The victim had been armed with a pellet gun, police said. Police deemed the shooting justifiable.

The Mr. Ventry's employee managed electronically to retrieve the phone number from which Friday's calls originated and police are investigating.
