A Cheektowaga man was pulled from his car, beaten and robbed Saturday afternoon, according to Buffalo Police.

The victim was walking out of a check-cashing warehouse at Seneca and Zittel streets about 1:45 p.m. After he got into his car, Buffalo resident William T. Shanahan, 26, of Burch Avenue hopped into the back seat, according to police. Shanahan fought with the victim, dragged him out of the car and continued to beat him before robbing him of $200, the report stated.

Shanahan then took off in his own car but was spotted and stopped by patrol officers who found a crack pipe on him, the report stated. Shanahan was arrested and charged with robbery, assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance and harassment, police said.
