Former paving business owner Louis J. Del Prince, 85, of the Town of Lancaster, died Friday in St. Joseph Hospital, following a short illness.
Born in Buffalo, he was educated at St. Gerard and St. Lawrence schools. He was retired president and co-owner, along with his brothers, of Louis Del Prince and Sons Paving Inc. He started the family paving business with his father, Louis Sr., at the age of 17. He was an operating engineer, developing the family business over a period of 45 years, retiring in 1982.
Mr. Del Prince loved music, fishing and golf. He was a professional musician, playing the guitar, organ and keyboard. An active church member, he was a 56-year member of Sacred Heart parish in Bowmansville and a member of its Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Ann Terhaar; two daughters, Jane M. Hernandez of Williamsville and Mary Lou of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Caroline Lina of Williamsville and Mary Beth Arthur of Santa Fe, N.M.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5337 Genesee St., Bowmansville. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
