The Tonawanda School Board unanimously adopted its proposed $28.1 million budget for the 2005-06 school year during a brief session on Friday evening.
On May 17, residents will vote on the budget, which would raise the property tax rate by 3.02 percent.
The budget was adopted by a 6-0 count. Board member Anthony Melchiorre was absent during the vote. Last year's tax increase was more than 7 percent.
"In the four years I've been here, this is the best budget we've ever presented, in terms of fairness to students and taxpayers," Superintendent George Batterson said earlier this week.
A public hearing is scheduled for May 10.
