NOT GUILTY PLEA ENTERED IN WELFARE FRAUD

Ida Rickard, 34, formerly of the Tuscarora Indian Reservation, pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that she fraudulently obtained $20,600 worth of public assistance between 2002 and 2004.

Rickard was arraigned in Niagara County Court on six counts of offering a false instrument for filing and single counts of third-degree welfare fraud and misuse of food stamps.

Rickard was accused of pocketing $12,800 in welfare benefits and $7,800 worth of food stamps by filing false reports with the Social Services Department.
