Elizabeth M. Hardie VanBuren of Attica, a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, died Thursday in Eastside Nursing Facility following a lengthy illness. She was 83.
Born Elizabeth M. "Betty" Beaver in Sheldon, she belonged to Court San Sebastian No. 1012 Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Her first husband, Elmer G. Hardie, died in 1971.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Robert; seven sons, James R. Hardie of Bennington, Robert J. Hardie of Attica, Nicholas G. Hardie of Brockport, William E. Hardie of Attica, Mark VanBurean of Alpharetta, Ga., and Brian VanBuren and Miles VanBuren, both of Rochester; five daughters, Sue Townsend of Attica, Judith V. Hardie of East Aurora, Donna Fay of Berea, Ohio, Mary Ellen "Betsy" Van Son of Attica and Katherine Campbell of Buffalo; a brother, Raymond Beaver of Warsaw; two sisters, Mary Shed of Elma and Peggy Reisdorf of Strykersville; 30 grandchildren; and 16 great- grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 50 East Ave., Attica. She will be buried in the church's cemetery.
