O.T. "John Jr." Wright, a retired General Motors Corp. employee, died Wednesday in Niagara Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a long illness. He was 80.
A native of Forest, Miss., he served with the Army during World War II. He moved here in 1949.
Mr. Wright worked on construction of the Niagara Power Project from 1958 to 1960 and then went to work at Vanadium Corp. He worked at GM's Chevrolet plant in the Town of Tonawanda for 25 years, retiring in 1989.
His wife, Mayme Marable Wright, died in 1982.
He is survived by a son, Michael of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Carolyn Bright of Buffalo; two brothers, Allen of Forest and Paul of Buffalo; a sister, Nancy Gray of Forest; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, 917 Garden Ave. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst.
