The sham continues in the Central Library innovations. Make no mistake, libraries are essential for any culture. But with poor decisions from our county's so-called lawmakers, it is no wonder that we are led to believe in their fairy tales. There is no accountability.
For instance, the Central Library is undergoing a $3.1 million renovation of cosmetic changes including a new entry, a bookstore, a gift shop and a coffee and bagel shop. Food and drink while eating is a nice thought, but will this encourage additional sloppiness and more cleanup?
When officials are challenged with current spending during difficult fiscal times, their official answer is that this project began years ago. Do the officials have the ability to say "stop" and use common sense in the matter? Probably not. It's business as usual, flawed as usual.
