Charles A. McAllister Sr. of Buffalo, a retired laborer, died unexpectedly Sunday in Sisters Hospital. He was 61.
Born in Lackawanna, Mr. McAllister grew up there and in Depew before moving to Buffalo about 40 years ago.
He was a laborer at Worthington Pumps for 15 years before retiring in 1986.
A former member of True Word Church of God in Christ, Mr. McAllister was a member of the Eastside Tennis Club, the National Rifle Association and several bowling leagues.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Stephanie Hairston McAllister; two daughters, Mario Blackmon and Danielle, both of Buffalo; a son, Charles A. Jr. of Buffalo; three sisters, Margaret Gilliam and Dorothy Patterson, both of Buffalo, and Joyce Jones of Las Vegas; two brothers, James of Buffalo and Anthony of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Dayspring Church of God of Prophecy, 2628 Bailey Ave. Burial is private.
