Jennie Grekalski, a former teacher, died Sunday in the Pines nursing home after a long illness. She was 90.
Born in Manhattan, she was a graduate of Machias High School and had bachelor's and master's degrees from D'Youville College.
She taught in the Rushford and Machias school districts before teaching at Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, where she taught English, Latin and History for 10 years.
After her husband retired, they worked for Vanzile Travel of Rochester and Blue Bird Travel of Olean and traveled extensively throughout the world.
She was a member of St. Philomena's Catholic Church of Franklinville and the Philomathic Club.
Her husband of 51 years, John, died in 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Paul of Frewsburg and Michael of St. Louis; a daughter, Martha Farrell of Hopkinton, Maine; and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Philomena's Church, 26 North Plymouth Ave., Franklinville. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
