The $32 million proposed budget for Dunkirk School District carries a 48-cent decrease in the tax rate.
School Superintendent Carl Militello proposed the budget at a Board of Education workshop session Tuesday.
If the board OKs the measure, and the voters approve it on May 17, it would be the second consecutive budget with a tax rate decrease.
The proposal calls for cutting 7 1/2 teaching positions. Since 2003 Dunkirk schools have eliminated 24 1/2 positions from the teaching staff.
