ROBERT W. JACOBSON

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert W. Jacobson of Blasdell, a retired railroad worker, was offered Thursday in Our Mother of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Blasdell. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.

Mr. Jacobson died April 11 in The Waters of Orchard Park after a brief illness. He was 77.

Born in Buffalo, he grew up in the Old First Ward and was a 1945 graduate of Burgard Vocational High School. He served in the Marine Corps in 1946 and 1947 as an aircraft mechanic, attaining the rank of corporal.

He worked for the Buffalo Creek Railroad, later Conrail, as a switchman and conductor from 1954 until he retired in 1989. He also was a member of Boilermakers Local 7.

Nicknamed "The Gunner," he was a New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan. He was a member of Kania's Social Club.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Mary Jean Blake; three sons, Michael J. and James A., both of Blasdell, and Robert J. of Lackawanna; two sisters, Eleanor Ring and Peggy Hayes, both of Buffalo; and six grandchildren.
