Silver Creek golf pro Cindy Miller's run on the Golf Channel series, "Big Break III: Ladies Only," ended Tuesday night one show away from a one-on-one finale.
Miller, who had won four skills challenges for immunity in previous weeks, was undone by her driving distance. The first half of the challenge, filmed in October, measured the length and accuracy of three drives. Her competitors, Pamela Crikelair and Danielle Amiee, moved on to the second phase of the challenge involving putting. Crikelair won it and the exemption, forcing Amiee to compete with Miller in the elimination challenge.
They played three holes of stroke play. Miller just missed a par putt to fall behind on the second hole and Amiee sank a par putt on the third hole that eliminated Miller.
In next Tuesday's finale, Crikelair and Amiee battle for the right to enter two LPGA events this year.
"I don't think it was meant to be," Miller said from Florida, where she is teaching this week. "I'm so glad I did it. I learned to believe in myself."
She gets to test that belief in June at the LPGA Championship near Baltimore, having previously won the national teaching championship to qualify.
"I'm still going to play a major," she said.
