Jay Bowser, formerly of East Eden, died April 6 in his home in DuBois, Pa., after a brief illness. He was 72.
Born in Brookville, Pa., he attended schools in Cattaraugus County and Niagara Falls and served in the Army in the Korean War.
A crane operator, he worked for Ford Motor Co.'s Buffalo Stamping Plant in Hamburg for 33 years, retiring in the late 1980s. He moved to DuBois shortly after he retired.
Mr. Bowser was a member of Clinton-Paige Lodge 620, Free & Accepted Masons, in Otto and the National Rifle Association. In Pennsylvania, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, the former Barbara J. Davis; two sons, Rodney J. of Jamestown and Jonathan W. of Union, Ohio; two daughters, Martha J. of Hamburg and Cheryl Sherman of Aurora, Ill.; three sisters, Patricia Taber of Dallas, Ore., Linda Benkelman of East Concord and Marilyn Griffiths of Caledonia, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
There will be no services.
