Help for paying heating bills is still available through the HEAP and CARES programs, National Fuel reminds its Western New York customers.
The Home Energy Assistance Payment program, bolstered by additional federal funding, provides regular payments of $150 to $400 a month for eligible households and emergency payments of up to $360 to avert a heating crisis. Applications are available through county Social Services and Senior Services departments.
The Customer Assistance Referral and Evaluation Services program helps eligible customers move from Social Services assistance to self-sufficiency. Information is available from Social Services caseworkers or the Salvation Army.
