2 BROCTON MEN INJURED WHEN TRUCK HITS DEER

Two Brocton men were hospitalized after their truck collided with a deer running across Farel Road Tuesday afternoon, Chautauqua County sheriff's officials reported.

Charles E. Reid Jr., 24, sustained severe facial lacerations and cuts to his head and hand after the pickup truck he was driving collided with the deer at about 2:40 p.m.

A passenger, William Penhollow, 40, suffered an ankle injury. Both men were taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk for treatment. Their conditions were unavailable.

Police said the deer ran into the driver's side door, flipped into the windshield and off into a ditch.
