SUZANNE CUTLER READ, RETIRED NURSE
FEB. 5, 1938 -- APRIL 15, 2005

A memorial service for Suzanne Cutler Read, a retired nurse who helped run a family business, will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware Ave.

Mrs. Read, of Getzville, died Friday under Hospice care in Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She was 67.

Born in Buffalo, she graduated from Amherst Central High School. She graduated from Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing in 1959.

She worked as a registered nurse at Buffalo General and Roswell Park, retiring from nursing in the early 1980s. She and several nurses from her graduating class maintained close ties through the "Nurses Group," and Mrs. Read always hosted the group's annual party.

She was controller for her family businesses, Chem-Mark of Buffalo and Read's Laundry & Dry Cleaning, until her death.

She was active in Rotary Anns of Williamsville and the Williamsville Business and Professional Association. She was a member of University Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Read enjoyed gardening and maintained spacious gardens at her home.

She also enjoyed traveling, including visits to Europe and more than 25 annual trips to Aruba with her husband of 44 years, Lawrence E.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Wendy Reynolds of Getzville; a son, L. Randall of Williamsville; and four grandchildren.
