BONA SIGNS JUNIOR COLLEGE POINT GUARD

Point guard Terron Diggs of Fairfax, Va., has signed to play basketball at St. Bonaventure.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Diggs started 57 straight games at Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College and was considered among the top 20 junior college point guards in his class. Last season, he was named to the All-Panhandle Conference first team after he averaged 6.6 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds.

SOFTBALL: Marissa Sappelt (Lake Shore) had two of her team's five hits on the day and scored the only run as D'Youville (5-17) was swept by St. John Fisher, 1-0 and 3-1. Amanda Herberger (Kenmore East) pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts for Fisher in the opener. . . . Kaitlyn Miller (Depew) had three hits and scored twice for Hilbert in 8-0 and 13-3 losses to Pitt-Bradford. . . . Canisius pitcher Andrea Bunten, who was 2-1 with a 0.33 earned run average, earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors. . . . St. Bonaventure captured two individual awards in the Atlantic 10 as freshman Ashley Bonetto (Depew) was named Rookie of the Week and sophomore Christine Keleher (Kenmore) won her second consecutive Pitcher of the Week award. In conference play, Keleher is 5-0 with a 0.80 ERA, while Bonetto ranks second in batting with a .450 average.

GOLF: Andy Whalen of St. Bonaventure was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after shooting a 10-over par 152 (74-78) to tie for 23rd place at the Navy Spring Invitational. . . . Gannon's Dave Patronik (Orchard Park) tied for fifth place (70-72-142) at the Great Lakes Regional at Deer Track Golf Course in Auburn, Ind.

BASEBALL: Sophomore pitcher Kevin Maluchnik of Medaille threw the first no-hitter in school history, a 10-1 win over Mount Aloysisus, to earn Pitcher of the Week honors in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE: Kaleena Goldsworthy had five goals for Fredonia in a 17-14 win over RIT.
