BAKER STAYS HOT AT SENIORS

Tom Baker of Buffalo continued to dominate the field in his first career PBA Senior Tour event as he finished with a 3,863 16-game pinfall to lead after the second day of qualifying in the 2005 PBA Senior Empire State Open at Bowlers Club in Latham.

Baker, the only bowler on the Senior Tour who has an exemption on the PBA Tour, averaged 238.25 on Monday after averaging 244.63 on Sunday. He shot over 226 in every game, including a 266 in game 15 to secure the lead.

"The lanes were much different today. I could have had a bunch more but it doesn't matter as long as you're in the top eight," said Baker, who won the 2004 PBA World Championship.

Norb Wetzel of Fond du Lac, Wis., averaged 238.63 including three games in the 250s to finish the day second with 3,790.

The top 48 will bowl nine more games of qualifying today, with the top 32 advancing to match play beginning tonight. The top two will bowl best-of-three match play for the $8,000 top prize Wednesday evening.
