Services for Alonzo Kirkland will be at noon Wednesday in H. Alfred Lewis Mortuary, 968 Jefferson Ave. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
Mr. Kirkland, of Buffalo, died Friday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Batavia, after a long illness. He was 68.
Born in Camden, S.C., he attended Buffalo public schools, then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He then was a dock worker and long-distance truck driver in New York City before moving back to Buffalo.
Survivors include six sons, Alonzo Jr. of Syracuse and Dwayne, Tony, Valentino, Alonzo III and Jason, all of Brooklyn; two daughters, Shawnique Jessica Stacey Simpson of Queens and Jacqueline of Brooklyn; a brother, Theodore of Buffalo; two sisters, Jewell LaVern Wright of Buffalo and Thelma Burroughs of Columbia, S.C.; and 12 grandchildren.
