The Town of North Collins has been planning a municipal building for 50 years. That beats the record for the Peace Bridge! In the state's only town without a municipal building, the town clerk works from the enclosed front porch of her house while the supervisor operates from a back room in his home. The Town Board borrows the Village of North Collins' municipal building for its meetings.
This is a prime example of waste in our region. The town is looking at a cost of $1 million to build a municipal building. Why not merge with the village and become North Collins? Why do we have towns and villages all over this county with duplicate names? Merging these nearby "cousins" into one family would cut costs.
