Niagara-Wheatfield captured the ninth annual Holy Angels Classic softball tournament Sunday afternoon with a 10-5 win over the host Angels.
The Falcons scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie. Carolyn Arida doubled in two runs and scored twice. Stephanie Mis threw the complete game with seven strikeouts.
Holy Angels advanced to the finals with a 9-2 win over Williamsville East. Anne Dobmeier pitched a complete game three-hitter while going 3 for 3 with two doubles and driving in four runs.
In the third-place game, Kristy Sheridan hit a home run and drove in five runs to pace Mount Mercy to a 13-2 win over Nichols.
Alex Moscati hit a three-run homer to help Williamsville East to a 19-1 win over Mount St. Mary's in the fifth-place game. Ashley Kotz added a two-run home run for the Flames.
