Sunday was a tough night for Town of Tonawanda native Tom Askey.

Askey replaced Ryan Miller in goal for the Rochester Americans, and was victimized for three straight goals as the Cleveland Barons beat the Amerks, 3-2, to close the regular American Hockey League season.

Sean McMorrow and Milan Bartovic scored second period goals to give Rochester a 2-0 lead. However, Grant Stevenson and Tomas Pihal tallied for Cleveland in a span of 1 minute, 7 seconds, to tie the game.

Doug Murray's power-play goal at 11:55 of the third period was the winner.

Rochester opens its North Division Semifinal Series against Hamilton on Wednesday in Blue Cross Arena.

The Amerks finished with the AHL's best regular-season record, 51-19-4-6.

Before the game Amerks General Manager Jody Gage announced the team has signed Peter Trovato, a left wing from the University of Massachusetts.
