SUSPECT, 38, IS ARRESTED IN MUGGING AT BUS STOP

Police accused a 38-year-old Freeman Street man of punching a man at a bus stop Saturday and grabbing his wallet containing $92.

Shawn Akin was arrested on a first-degree robbery charge.

Akin allegedly approached a man at 12:20 a.m. at 595 Walden Ave. while the man was waiting for a bus.

"I have a gun, give me your money," the robber said, according to the victim's statement to police.

When the victim refused, Akin punched him the face, knocking out two front teeth, reports said, then ripped the wallet from the victim's rear pants pocket and fled.

Police Officer R. Joyce reported finding Akin hiding in a nearby alleyway. Police said they returned the money to the victim.
