Several emotions ran through me as I read about Bucky Gleason's tour of Memorial Auditorium, but jealousy topped the list. I've driven past the old building dozens of times during the past few years and have often thought about schemes to get in and explore it -- none of which have proved realistic.
Though I didn't realize it at the time it closed, the Aud must have had a tighter grip on my imagination than I thought. I've even had a few dreams that the building was again packed for a Sabres game with fans making their own noise by chanting, yelling and clapping, accompanied by nothing but an organ.
The idea of tours of the building might be far-fetched, but if anyone is thinking of setting one up, I'll buy a ticket.
