A new TV ad, sponsored by health workers' unions, is urging residents to call our two state legislative leaders, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, and thank them for getting a state budget in on time.
First of all, that is the job of our legislators -- to complete a budget by April 1. Second, thank them for what? The costliest Medicaid program of any state, higher fees and taxes and a budget deficit that is higher than the actual budget of some other states?
Wow. It took 20 years to get a budget in on time and it still hasn't helped the overtaxed citizens of New York State. It sounds like the people in our state government should be thanking us for allowing them to do nothing for their constituents and allowing them a high-paying, part-time job with benefits the average taxpayer can only dream about.
