Richard M. Mirando, a former Buffalo police officer, died April 9 in a Port St. Lucie, Fla., hospital after a long illness. He was 76.
Born and raised in Buffalo as the youngest of 15 brothers and sisters, he graduated from Kensington High School.
He served in the Army for two years before becoming a state trooper. He later joined the Buffalo Police Department and retired as a lieutenant in the 1980s.
He had lived in Cheektowaga before moving to Port St. Lucie after retiring.
Survivors include his wife, the former Geraldine "Jerry" Martin; four sons, Glenn of Tulsa, Okla.; Michael of Port St. Lucie; Mark of Oldmar, Fla.; and Dino of Tulsa; two brothers, Frank of Lancaster and Michael of Cheektowaga; and seven grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held.
