Guenter E. Berg, 79, formerly of Ransomville, died Wednesday in Niagara Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Gervin, Kolberg, Germany, and served in the German Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war.
In 1952 he immigrated to Hamburg and worked as a bookkeeper for a cement manufacturer until the late 1960s. He later worked for Buffalo China for a while.
He is survived by two sons, Paul of Clarence and Michael of Amherst; one brother, Lutz, and a sister, Erika Rowek, both of Germany; and grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Spallino-Amigone Funeral Home, 1300 Pine Ave. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park, Lewiston.
