The University of Virginia hired DePaul coach Dave Leitao to be its next men's basketball coach, according to sources familiar with the negotiations.
Leitao, 44, was scheduled to tell his team that he was leaving at a 7 p.m. meeting.
Officials at DePaul and Virginia wouldn't confirm Leitao's status.
Leitao flew to Charlottesville on Thursday to tour the campus and meet with school officials. He returned to Chicago on Thursday night with an offer for more than $1.2 million a year, the Chicago Tribune reported in its Friday edition.
Leitao will replace Pete Gillen, who resigned on March 14 after seven seasons.
