CITY IS NAMED FINALIST IN ALL-AMERICAN CONTEST

Batavia was named Friday as one of 30 finalists in the 2005 All-American City Award competition.

Batavia is one of only two New York State cities chosen for the designation by the National Civic League. White Plains is the other.

Cities in 20 states were singled out for the award, which recognizes civic excellence, in which citizens, government, businesses and non-profits successfully resolve critical community issues.

Local delegations will present their innovative programs and solutions in Atlanta June 23-25. Jurors will select the top 10 cities, which will receive the designation June 25.
