BANK ROBBER WHO MADE BOMB THREATS GETS JAIL

A Buffalo man who made bomb threats while robbing two banks last September was sentenced to nine years and seven months in federal prison Friday.

Alberto Cruz, 32, robbed the M&T Bank branch at 130 Grant St. last Sept. 21, and the Key Bank branch at 52 Amherst St. on Sept. 28. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Marie P. Grisanti, Cruz threatened tellers at both banks by saying he had a bomb.

FBI agents and Buffalo police arrested Cruz.

In an unrelated case, Moses Torres, 25, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty to the Aug. 3, 2004, holdup of a Key Bank branch at 50 Fountain Plaza.
