AUDREY S. BAYLE, RETIRED BUFFALO TEACHER
SEPT. 25, 1926 -- APRIL 13, 2005

Audrey S. Bayle of Williamsville, a retired teacher, died Wednesday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 78.

Born Audrey Sowers in Pancakes, Pa., she graduated from high school in Uniontown, Pa. She earned a bachelor's degree from Waynesburg College and a master's from Buffalo State College.

She worked for the Buffalo public school system from 1970 to 1995.

Mrs. Bayle was a docent at the Buffalo Zoo.

Her husband, William M., died Feb. 24.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary "Polly" Darnell of Lockport and Beverly Brady William of New York; one sister, Carolyn Probst of Ripley; three grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4275 S. Harris Hill Road, Williamsville. Entombment will be in the church columbarium.
