A Strauss Street man was apprehended by Buffalo police Thursday in connection with a late Tuesday shooting that hospitalized a Louisiana Street man, according to police reports.
Anthony Whitfield, 27, was charged with first-degree felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest, according to the reports.
Whitfield was tracked down by Ferry-Fillmore Officers Thomas Moran and Ron Clark about 7:30 p.m. Thursday at a Roosevelt Avenue address, according to police. Whitfield, who was found hiding under a bed in an apartment there, is accused of shooting Devon Rogers about 11 p.m. Tuesday on Perry Street, police said.
Whitfield fired five rounds, two of which struck Rogers in the chest, according to police. Rogers was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition.
