IT IS DISRESPECTFUL TO FLY A FLAG THAT IS TATTERED

Can someone please explain to me why people continue to fly flags that are in tatters? It is not patriotic to fly the American flag when it is shredded, torn or half missing. It is a great disservice to fly the POW/MIA flag when it is ripped and torn.

Every day, I pass by the corner of Delaware Avenue and Church Street and see the two "flags" that fly there. I think Erie County is showing disdain by allowing these to still be aloft. This is a disgrace. It is better to remove the flags than to fly what amounts to rags on poles.

If you are proud of our country, fly the flag, but make certain that it is in good shape or replace it. As a Vietnam vet, I do not think that it is proper to remember POWS/MIAs by flying tattered flags. My brothers and sisters in arms are not honored or remembered by a rag on a flag pole.
