Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo Foundation will honor volunteers at its annual Burt P. Flickinger Jr. Awards Luncheon at noon April 28 in Salvatore's Italian Gardens. The tributes are in memory of Flickinger's dedication, service and leadership role in setting a standard for volunteer service.
John Tobia, Western New York district manager of Home Depot and a foundation board member, will receive the Burt P. Flickinger Jr. Tribute for Outstanding Fund-raising. Tobia and local Home Depot employees raised funds to finance the Home Depot Family Care Center in the hospital and funded renovation and expansion of the hospital gift shop. He and his crew constructed the Garden of Hope on Hodge Street and have committed to the renovation and expansion of the hospital's main lobby scheduled for later this year.
Other awards and their recipients are: Corporate Award, DiVal Safety Equipment; Medical Professional Award, Child Life Department at Women and Children's Hospital; Trustee Award, Karen Camiolo; Support Award, Michael Spina; Child Champion Award, Natalie Rivera; Corporate Champion Award, Tops Markets; Unsung Hero Award, Joe Erhart.
