RESTITUTION, PROBATION ORDERED IN THEFT CASE

Allegany County Judge Thomas P. Brown on Monday ordered David Woods Jr., 32, of Olean, to make $1,400 in restitution to a store for goods he had in his possession.

Assistant District Attorney Keith A. Slep said Brown also sentenced Woods to three years of probation.

He pleaded guilty Jan. 31 to fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, satisfying an Aug. 11 indictment charging fourth-degree criminal possession and petit larceny, Slep said.

Baker had more than $1,400 worth of goods from Debbie's Hallmark Store in Wellsville when he was charged April 1, 2004, Slep said.

The indictment accused him of stealing the goods, but he pleaded guilty to possession.
