A 17-year-old boy was shot twice in the chest in the 300 block of Perry Street at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, and homicide investigators say they are looking to question a 27-year-old man about the shooting.
Devon Rogers, of Louisiana Street, was listed in stable condition today in Erie County Medical Center.
Police said Anthony Whitfield is wanted for questioning.
Lt. Kenneth Bienko, commander of the Homicide Squad, said Rogers and two friends had just knocked on the front door of a home in the Perry housing development, on Perry near Chicago and Louisiana streets, where no one answered.
"He turned to leave and a guy walked out of the alley, pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest," Bienko said.
Police said the gunman did not say anything and then ran toward Louisiana Street.
Officers from Ferry-Fillmore District, South District and the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority responded. Rural/Metro Medical Services paramedics transported him to the hospital.
Whitfield is described as black, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with a thin build.
