CAREER AND HEALTH FAIR: The University at Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center will hold a career and health and wellness fair from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the center at 465 Washington St. The event will include information on training programs, employment and career opportunities in health care, plus free screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose and weight. ASTRONOMY LECTURE: Fred Watson, an Australian astronomer, will deliver a free, public lecture on the history of the telescope at 3 p.m. Thursday in Room 109 of the Horan-O'Donnell Science Building at Canisius College.

RESIDENTIAL REHAB: The community group Fillmore Leroy Area Residents invites the public to view the first of five Victoria Avenue rehabilitation projects from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at 184 Victoria Ave. Once complete, these homes will be available for purchase by low-to-moderate income individuals. RECRUITMENT: Buffalo Prep will hold information and recruiting sessions for bright minority students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades and their families from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Gloria J.
