Cessna Aircraft Co. plans to hire as many as 500 sheet-metal workers to meet rising demand for business jets.
It is the second time since last fall that Cessna has said it to expand to its work force of 8,700 people in Wichita.
In October, Cessna said it planned to hire 600 workers -- most of which have already been hired. Last year, Cessna delivered 181 jets. It expects to deliver 235 this year. Cessna employs 625 people at its Independence plant, where it has plans for a $20.4 million expansion that would add 500 more workers over the next several years.
