TOWN BOARD TARGETS SUNSET BAY FLOODING

Residents of Sunset Bay are blaming recent flooding on storm water draining from the commercial district along Routes 5 and 20.

During a meeting of the Hanover Town Board on Monday, several residents raised concern about the problem in the areas of Michigan and Cayuga streets. One resident pointed to street flooding, swampy areas and a concern that standing water could become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

In other matters, the board awarded contracts for a water-improvement project. Milherst Construction of Getzville bid $3.16 million to install a main line. Mainline Services of Elma bid $1.38 million to clean and reline existing water lines.
