SENATE OKS CROTTY AS FEDERAL JUDGE

The Senate approved Buffalo native Paul Crotty to become a federal judge Monday, voting 95-0 to place him on the bench in the district including Manhattan, the Bronx, and its northern suburbs.

Crotty, a former New York City lawyer who worked for former mayors Ed Koch and Rudolph Giuliani, has been a prominent figure in New York legal circles for decades.

Born in 1941, he is the son of the late Peter J. Crotty, the longtime Erie County Democratic chairman. His brother, Peter, was the 2002 Democratic candidate for Congress for the seat held by Rep. Jack F. Quinn Jr.
