Services for Elsie M. McElhinny, of Williamsville, a retired office manager, were held March 30 in Lester Wedekindt Funeral Home, Kenmore. Burial was in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
Mrs. McElhinny died March 27 in the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Cheektowaga after a battle with cancer. She was 73.
Born in Buffalo, the former Elsie Weiss attended city schools. She was office manager for the downtown Buffalo office of Aetna Life & Casualty Co. for 20 years. She retired in 1985.
Mrs. McElhinny was a past matron of Betsy Ross Levant Chapter 695, Order of the Eastern Star; past high priestess of Ailiamsi Court 12, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America; and a member of Athor Temple 19, Daughters of the Nile. She also was active in the Buffalo Chapter of the World Association of Alcohol Beverage Industries.
Surviving are her husband of 31 years, William; four daughters, Linda Dion of the Town of Boston, Patti Wallace of Indianapolis, Debbie Murello of Amherst and Janet Gaczewski of Rushford; a son, William Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her mother, Stephanie Weiss of Amherst; two sisters, Helen Kawa of Buffalo and Dorothy Watt of Williamsville; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
