LOG SPLITTER STOLEN FROM FALLS LAWN SERVICE

A log splitter valued at $2,500 was reported stolen overnight Saturday from the 27th Street location of Hoppie's Lawn Service, police said.

A lock was cut off a gate to allow the splitter to be removed from a fenced-in yard, police said.

A Niagara Avenue woman, meanwhile, told police she believes one of her brothers was responsible for taking a digital video disc player, valued at $40, from her home overnight Saturday. Both men have denied responsibility, police said.

An Ontario Avenue man told police that $10 in change and about $30 worth of tools were stolen overnight Saturday from his car, parked on the 2100 block of 22nd Street. A rock was thrown through one of the car's window, causing damage estimated at $500.
