$50,000 GRANT TO FUND VOLUNTEER FIREMEN'S GEAR

More than two dozen new sets of turnout gear and a thermal imaging device for use in fires will be coming to the Angola Volunteer Fire Department thanks to a nearly $50,000 grant by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, village officials announced Friday.

The funds under the 2004 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program will allow fire officials in Angola to buy 30 sets of coats, pants, boots, helmets, goggles, gloves and hoods to replace the department's old equipment. The thermal imaging device is a tool that will improve protection of citizens and firefighters, fire officials said.
