STATUTORY RAPE CHARGE LEADS TO PRISON TERM

City Judge Angelo J. Morinello has sentenced a 20th Street man to one to three years in prison on a statutory rape charge.

Aarien D. Robinson, 24, had pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree rape involving a girl under the age of 15 last year.

In other cases, Morinello placed David R. Lyons, 23, of Ferry Avenue, on three years' probation on a reduced charge of petit larceny. Lyons originally was accused of taking $50 from a cab driver at knifepoint July 19, 2003, on 15th Street.

Also, Gary J. Hitzel, 51, of Wheatfield-Pendleton Town Line Road, drew six months in jail as a beginning to five years' probation for felony driving while intoxicated. Hitzel was arrested Feb. 4, 2004, after a police chase on Niagara Falls Boulevard.
