MORLEY TOSSES NO-HITTER FOR CV

Cassadaga Valley's Alicia Morley pitched a no-hitter and had three hits at the plate as the Cougars routed Chautauqua Lake, 14-1, in the teams' CCIAC II softball opener Friday afternoon.

Jennifer Zanghi added three hits for Cassadaga Valley.

CCIAC I: Teegan Forness struck out nine during a six-hitter, while Megan Vitello went 2 for 3 with two RBIs as Olean stopped Southwestern, 6-2. . . . Amanda Westling had seven strikeouts while Emily Reilly drove in three runs as Dunkirk (2-0) dealt Gowanda a 10-1 defeat.

Baseball

ECIC II: James Flatley had 10 strikeouts in a complete game win as Iroquois used a four-run fourth to beat Lake Shore, 5-3. Steve Mamak, Todd Penke and Mark Pauly each had two hits.

ECIC IV: Justin Klein pitched a complete game with six strikeouts as Eden opened its league season with a 4-1 defeat of Cleveland Hill. Colby Schrauth went on an extra-base hit binge during a 3-for-3 day, collecting two triples and a double. Schrauth also came around to score three of the Raiders' runs.

CCIAC I: Chris Porpiglia had two hits and three RBIs as Dunkirk moved to 2-0 in league play with an 8-4 win over Gowanda. Ryan Thompson added two hits and two RBIs, Frank Jagoda had an RBI double and Mike Cole contributed a triple. . . . Randy Chapman had a double and three RBIs as Falconer foiled Fredonia, 7-5. . . . Mike Morgante went 2 for 4 and scored three runs as Southwestern battered Olean, 16-7. Olean's Jason Gattuso went 2 for 3 with a double.

CCIAC II: Keith Blume and Addison Bragg both went 3 for 4 as Frewsburg defeated Salamanca, 11-3. Dan Green had five strikeouts in pitching the win.
