GIRL, 19, ESCAPES ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING

A Clark Street teen was nearly snatched off the street by her hair Friday during a kidnapping attempt by an unknown man in a late model pickup truck, Buffalo police reported.

The 19-year-old victim told police she was walking north on Smith Street near James Street at about 11:45 a.m. when the man pulled up alongside her. The door swung open, and he tried to pull her into the truck by her hair.

Police said the victim fought and screamed before the man dropped her into the street and sped off. The woman injured her left elbow, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male with a black brush cut. He wore a ripped T-shirt, shorts and sunglasses. He had a large scar on his right hand. The truck is a newer black pickup with a silver tool box in the truck bed, police said.
