A memorial service for Ralph R. Gold of Burgaw, N.C., a retired foreman at General Motors' Chevrolet Metal Casting Plant and former Buffalo resident, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Maryvale Drive Presbyterian Church, 425 Maryvale Drive, Cheektowaga.
Mr. Gold, who grew up in Buffalo, died, apparently of a heart attack, March 15 while visiting a son, Ralph, in Birmingham, Ala. He was 76.
After serving in the Army in Germany, he returned to Buffalo to work at the Chevrolet plant. He retired in 1983 and moved to North Carolina.
Mr. Gold was an elder at Burgaw Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday school for 10 years, and was commander of Post 165, American Legion, in Burgaw for two years.
Besides his son Ralph, survivors include three daughters, Joanne Beyer of Clarence, Sharon Lanckton of Wilmington, N.C., and Lori of Mebane, N.C.; another son, Roger of Cheektowaga; three sisters, Connie Willet of Charleston, S.C., and Janice Wiechec and HeleneHager, both of Buffalo; a brother, Larry of North Fort Myers, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
