TWO ARRESTED IN AMHERST ON CRACK COCAINE CHARGES

Amherst police say they have broken up a crack cocaine-peddling operation out of a Main Street motel room with the arrest of two Buffalo residents.

Using a search warrant signed by Town Justice Mark Farrell, narcotics detectives and patrol officers led by Lts. Charles Cohen and Daniel McCollum seized about an ounce of crack cocaine from the motel room early Tuesday morning, police said today.

They charged Gregory J. Turner, 25, of Bailey Avenue, and Tamara R. Lane, 23, of Winspear Avenue, with criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said a young child was in the motel room with them.

The investigation followed recent complaints of drug dealing at that location. Turner and Lane were sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $100,000 bail each.
