EIGHT IS ENOUGH FOR PHELPS

Michael Phelps will swim the same program at the world championships this summer as he did at the U.S. trials, where he won all five individual events he entered this past week in Indianapolis (100, 200 and 400 freestyles, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley). Including three relays, he plans to swim eight events in the meet July 24-31 at Montreal.

"We looked at the timeline, and it was certainly doable," his coach, Bob Bowman, said Tuesday night. "There's plenty of time between the nights where he would do doubles."

Phelps won eight medals at the Athens Olympics last summer.

In Tuesday's trials, Aaron Peirsol (200 backstroke), Brendan Hansen (200 breaststroke), Natalie Coughlin (100 freestyle) and Tara Kirk (200 breaststroke) won for the second time. The trials end today.
